We are proud to announce Animal Stories, as told by Mark B Ropers. This lively CD (recorded at Bluejay Productions) is a sharing of tales from around the world. Our collection includes the following tales:
How Anansi Brought Stories to the Earth from Africa Chanticleer the Rooster from The Canterbury Tales by Geoffrey Chaucer from England How Beetle Got Her Coat from Brazil How Kangaroo Got Her Pouch from Australia The Brahmin, the Tiger and the Six Judges from India Turtle Makes Warfrom the United States of America The Monkeys and the Moon from the China, Japan, and Korea
The tales are presented in an hour-long CD, perfect for short travels, long journeys, or home listening. As told by Mark B Ropers, the entertainment is perfect for listeners of all ages. The stories introduce audiences to characters from throughout history, both wise and otherwise. Each story has lessons for all, both subtle and not so, without beating the audience over the head with them. All of the stories are based on folk tales from the country in which they originated. In gathering the stories, Mark gathered different versions of each story and adapted these renditions to create a unique adaptation.
Box of Stories, LLC
Box of Stories, LLC has been formed with the goal of bringing stories from around the world to life. We gather all types of stories from all areas of the world and present them in a new, fresh way. It is important to us to bring the classics, cultural folk tales, and lesser known legends to audiences of all ages, sharing the ancient art of storytelling.
Every culture around the world has storytelling in its roots. Storytelling has been used to share information, language, traditions, values, wit and wisdom. Storytelling can feed the imagination of listeners, letting them take part in the process to create images in their minds. In this way, storytelling becomes an audience participation process, rather than a one-way, spoon-feeding process. Storytelling can help bring people together in a shared experience that builds common ground.
For younger audience members, storytelling can encourage reading skills as well as listening and communication skills.
By being exposed to stories from all ages, all audiences can find appreciation for the classics as well as other folk tales. Each culture has its own bits of wit and wisdom, and it is important to share these with our global family. We’d like to see these stories used as a springboard to invite audiences to explore and investigate the areas that they come from -- or places they'd like to go.
We encourage listeners to visit their local library for more information or stories.
